After many years of using Bing as a geocoding and tiled map provider, Cartographica has switched to using MapBox for these services. Details were previously discussed in the MapBox Arrives post on our blog and the general announcement warning was made in our Preparing for 1.6 post last year.
As of March 31, 2022, Cartographica will no longer provide access to the Bing services for geocoding and tiled maps. You have a number of options to fill this need.
Use MapBox Services
Cartographica's included services are now based on MapBox services and we're happy to bring them to you. If you are using Bing tiled layers in your maps, you will need to delete those layers and use the File > Add Live Map command to add a new layer using MapBox as a provider. (This should be the default since 1.5.5)
For geocoding, you can set the options for your mapset by using Tools > Geocoder Options… and select the MapBox tab. (This should be the default since 1.5.5).
Bring your own Bing Maps key
If you have a Bing Maps key for your own use that by pasting it in to the Preferences window in the Bing Maps Key (optional) box. Note that your contract with Bing will govern your use of the Bing Maps services and ClueTrust cannot be liable for any charges you incur.
Cartographica 1.4 and earlier
Since 1.4 and earlier are out of support, we recommend upgrading to version 1.5.5 or newer if you need to use the included MapBox services going forward. Cartographica 1.5.5 supports back to MacOS 10.13.6.
